Within the heart of every stray lies the singular desire to be loved! (love a stray today :) ) Welcome to the trappings of a curious and sometimes demented mind!
I take that back. My respect for Powell, which was considerable but took a nosedive while he was Secretary of State (but was admittedly and understandably following orders), just octupled.
It takes guts to endorse a newcomer over someone you've known for 25 years, especially someone in your own party. At the same time, it means Powell has principles and he's following them.
I really like what he said about Muslims serving their country, America.
"He has both style and substance" - I agree. A new generation.
I believe Obama has the right touch, the ability to take America global, and rehabilitate its position in the world.
i couldn't agree more w/ you olivia. i was really touched by the way he talked about muslims, because it's really time that the world changes it's views.... enough is enough. i think it was a powerful statement when he said something like... "and what if he's Mulsim?!" i thought the same thing back when they were slinging all the stuff about obama being muslim... what's the big deal about that?!! ppl just live in hate and the past.

chief rock chef - i think that powell not only did what he thought was best for america, but it couldn't hurt him as well.

moody - i think this is a way for him to get his creditability back... don't ya think? i've always liked powell, and am really thrilled to see that he's backed obama and to hear what's coming from his mouth. very important stuff, and i really hope the u.s. listens. it's truly time for a change.
It will show the world that America is more sophisticated and therefore worthy of credit, if it can differentiate between Muslims and terrorists to such an extent that someone with a name like Barack Hussein Obama can be elected to leadership in an era where we have deposed a Hussain and are fighting an Osama.
I'm a girl living in Bahrain, under the all too watchful eyes of her in-laws, begging for a breath to speak/write it all down.... and I have a beautiful boy that will soon be 3... he's the only thing that keeps me 'almost' sane..... that and happiness that flutters like a butterfly... a beautiful red, black and gold one.... too quick to catch.

Thank you Colin Powell for your wonderful comments, particularly about having a Muslim as a president!

Isn't this kind of like Foghorn Leghorn endorsing Kentucky Fried Chicken?

Some commentators in the UK are asking who will gain most from this...

Yes, let's see if I can put this into words...
