am lovin' the weather

Aaaahhh, this time of year is so nice. I love the temps. Today was hot, but not that ...water running down your thighs and armpits type of hot.... it was a pleasant hot. :) Probably in the low 90s, I'd say, since tonight when we were coming home - around 6, it was about 83.

We took Henry to the date farm in Budaiya this morning (where the Sheikh who owns the property allows dog walkers to go, I just recently found out... from an expat, no less) for what turned out to be an hour walk. This place is huge. We could have walked further, but decided to make our way over to where the camels are kept... btw... Henry really enjoyed the walk. The camels were covered in flies and Naief couldn't stand them flying around and landing on his face, so we didn't spend a lot of time near them, but they were all so interested in Henry. I'm happy to say that Henry didn't get sick inside the car on the way and even sat w/ his head towards the window to get lots of fresh air on the ride to (whish is a first... wondering if he thought we were taking him back to the BSPCA during prior car rides since he really enjoyed it today). I was pleased :) He's a good dog.

Could hardly believe the living conditions of the workers at this place tho. Some were living in shacks... shacks that looked to be made out of palm leaves... for ppl who have sooooo much money... to have hired help living in shacks... it surprised me. Then, in another area, they had workers living in a string of small bldgs. When we walked past, sorta reminded me of a small village or something. Music was playing, ppl were outside sweeping... even a few kids were playing outdoors. No one was bothered by the dog, which was a nice, welcomed change. Apparently, a lot of ppl take their dogs to walk through this farm.

We have a busy week coming up. Will be the first time that Naief is busy w/ mommy for almost every day of the week, so am wondering how that'll be. We have a couple play dates, a bday party, lunch w/ friends, swimming, baby gym... phew. I'm tired just thinking about it. :) We have a play date tomorrow and it'll give buba some time to work in the studio... so I'm hoping some new music is in the works or will be after tomorrow.

Picked up a friend and her daughter last week for the baby gym and when I got there to get them, dear friend has just gotten out of the shower, so needless to say, we didn't leave at the time I said we HAD to leave to get to said class on time.... which, was correct and we wound up being over 15 mins late. I hate to run late to anything... and found myself not wanting to go w/ her next time so as not to run late. Yeah, I know, only 15 mins., but when it's a class for kids, every minute counts, and this class is only an hour.

And... she's supposed to go to a play date tomorrow at a friend's house w/ me and Naief, and I'm thinking I should tell her that it starts 30 mins earlier, just so that she'll get up, get dressed and ready w/ lots of time to spare. Why do so many ppl take soooo dang long to get ready???? Some days it drives me batty!

buzz, buzz, buzz

Naief and I went on a play date Thursday afternoon. It's the first time, since learning to walk, that Naief has been to Buzzi Beez (i think that's how it's spelled).... anyway...

We got there around 12, which, depending on how you look at it, can be the worst time to go or the best time to go. There were only two other families there. One husband and wife and their little girl and a housemaid w/ two children. Naief and I played for a good while... going from room to room. I think his favorite had to be the soft play area and the Lego area... he loved sitting at the small tables while trying to fit those little Lego pieces together! :)

One thing I noticed while we were playing was the music in the background. They had the songs w/ lyrics to all the little tunes that play on Naief's musical toys. I was overjoyed... really. I can remember half the words to songs and sometimes can only remember choruses, while I can't remember the lyrics to others.... so... off I go to the front desk to ask about this CD.

I told the girl that I really liked the CD and did they sell it... her answer to me was a straight, "no". Then I inquired as to the name of the CD so that I could order online. She promptly spoke to another Filipino girl there and I was told that per the manager they aren't allowed to give out that information.

I'm like, "what?!!". ..... "why?"

Her response to me was that they weren't allowed.

It totally miffed me. Why in the world would they not give out the freakin name to the CD? Do they think I'm gonna run off and build myself a play house for all the children of Bahrain to come and have singalongs? Are they afraid that I might spread the word that I have the CD and no one will want to go to Buzzi Beez??? Knowing that that's why everyone goes there - the music...

For goodness sake... they don't own the license to this music, why in the hell do they think they can tell someone 'no' when asked about the name of a CD?!!!

Really... I went down the hall afterwards, saw the CD case playing the songs and almost opened it up to get the name.... I would have if it wasn't the kind of CD player that shuts off when it's opened... or I would have if I didn't fear being kicked out and maybe my pass for coming being revoked permanently (ok, maybe that's a bit much... but crap, you'd think that this CD was an uber sensitive CD that only certain ppl was privy to seeing!!). It's not fair. I'm pissed.

I told Hashim. He told me that we'll go and he'll get the name for me.... :) So... let's see if it works.

I WANT THE NAME OF THIS CD!!!!!

I looked on the net to see if I could find something and didn't come up w/ the results that I was hoping for. If we don't get the name, I'll have to come up w/ some other solution.

look at that face

I took this yesterday w/ my telephone while he was playing in his blow up pool.

There are a 100 balls in his pool and it still wouldn't be enough if I started to list all the reasons why and how I love this little boy. He's my love bug.... and I find myself wishing he'd stay this way... altho I know it's not possible, I just find that I adore him more and more each day, and know that one day he'll be all grown up and not slap me in the face early in the morning to let me know it's time to get up or give me kisses just because.

He said mama yesterday.... I was thrilled.... can't wait for him to hold out his arms and say it!! oh yeah... not sure if I mentioned it, but he's crawling now :)
