Who will it be?

Barack Obama

or

John McCain

Just watched 'the Place for Politics - Forum on the Presidency - on MSNBC. Pat Roberts thinks John McCain was funny, at the top of his game... while Barack Obama seemed terrified and a college sophmore that was facing finals w/out studying... the woman on the panel is also very much against Barack Obama. I find myself in total disbelief when I sit and listen to this stuff.

MSNBC is obviously very pro-Republican. Republicans never cease to amaze me.

What about Vladimir Putin? Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? They seem to be dominating American politics lately.

Woah, no! What has happened to Obama's famous poise?

Odd that now I am here I have slacked off on following the race...

Darling, it is FOX NEWS (or anything having to do with Rupert Murdoch!) that is frightening...The news anymore (as it has been for decades)
is nothing but a fear creating machine. Le sigh, the only news I like would be public radio or BBC. That seems to be the only news you can get these days where it isn't overtly sensational!

moody, you've got me... this only shows how little i've been watching of the news!! i have no clue as to how they're dominating american politics... ain't that sad!??

olivia, isn't it weird how that happens. and his famous poise... yeah... i sorta sensed that something had changed, which is a bit disheartening.. but, seeing that he's met w/ hillary's ppl, i'm not surprised. seemed after that is when he changed...

kissyfur, i agree. don't usually watch this stuff, but when i saw obama being interviewed, i stopped. i liked what he had to say and thought mccain was ridiculously fake, but .... i don't like him. it was some pastor that was interviewing him!!! if you can believe it. some of the questions, i could hardly believe, but... typical for a preacher.

i wanted to add, olivia, that i didn't think obama did a bad job w/ this interview. even though his demeanor has changed, he's still very intelligent and makes the facts clear... even though the ppl on this particular panel said otherwise. i thought he was very precise in how he felt about the issues, answered the questions thoroughly, was funny, friendly and i really liked his answers... and found john mccain to be fake and scripted. he told more of a story and it seemed to me that he was briefed beforehand and knew the questions, altho his camp is saying otherwise, because obama's camp has come out w/ the same thoughts. when i watched mccain, that's exactly the feeling i got. he went on and on about things and i can't see how he could have done that or made his little speech like a 'story' unless he had known beforehand what the questions would be. but anyway....

I've noticed something interesting about what Western media I get here in Japan. It was all very pro-Obama until the recent Russia vs. Georgia debacle. Now they're swinging more toward McCain.

Even after Bush W., vacuous militarism sells...

American politics always throw me off a bit. I mean really, GWB? I have never met a single person who has voted for this guy, or admitted to it and I know a lot of Americans.

I was totally rooting for Hilary, but seeing as that did not work out, I'm now rooting for Barack.

I just hope that whoever wins, does a really good job :)

I read your blog about bookstores.... made me wonder if Bahrain ever got a good bookstore yet. We are considering relocation - coming from Florida USA. Your blog looks great and I will read more when I have time. Your son is adorable. Anything else you really miss? Anything I should be sure to pack? Thanks, Amanda (ajbgtu@aol.com)

amanda, sure, there are things i miss... most every day. the weather is very hot, but you're probably used to the same in florida. i miss greenery, whole foods grocery stores, the availability in grocery stores, good water - the kind you can drink from the faucet and the kind that doesn't stink when it comes from the faucet, cold water from the tap (seeing that most of the water tanks are outdoors therefore creating very hot water in the summer... really, all sorts of stuff. it just depends on how dependent you are on the states... but it's quiet here, not as busy as the states, which i like.

Well, now that each candidate has picked a running mate, Obama seems to have hit his stride again with Jo Biden, and not sure what to think of McCain's obscure Alaskan governor...
