baseball cards... or sort of

As a teenager, I often became obsessed w/ things... and I guess I still do somewhat. But, as I was looking for the concert tickets for my earlier post, I came across all the baseball type of cards that I've saved since childhood - why... not sure. I have my favorites, which are of Elvis Presley w/ all the vital info on the back of each, then I have some from the series The Bionic Woman - I loved this show as well as the Six Millon Dollar Man. I have some cards from the series Mork & Mindy - don't have any idea why I kept these... and also have a few from Jaws, and then I have lots from the original Star Wars.

Here are some pics. Am I the only one whose kept such things?

I'm a huge fan of collecting stuff, and completing a set of something, even now if I start a collection, I'm gonna see it to the end.

hmm...I am trying to think, but the only thing that I remember collecting as a teenager were pictures of Egyptian actress Sherihen . We didn't have those baseball cards in Tunisia so I bought any magazine or newspaper that had her picture, then cut it and put it on my walls.

I also loved the New Kids on The Block for a year or two and I had their calander, baseball cards. (that I bought from the US :),shirt, book....

i don't get attached to things...partly coz i see them as "junk" ...also coz i quickly lose interest in whatever i'm collecting.

nevertheless it takes a lot of patience and effort to collect anything..and showing them later is kinda cute..but not my type of thing.

Ohhh i was collecting so many things, i also was collecting kinda fliers of the movies i went and liked. Then I throw them away, seemed useless.

What I am currently collecting are the following things from the countries I have visited:

- souvenirs
- coins of the countries I have been to
- flags
- fridge magnets
- I also like to buy silver rings from different countries, but its not something I am collecting, but I am trying to buy if I see smth nice.

I guess that is all.

Cheers

well... i don't collect these any more but saved them for a variety of reasons. i have a tendancy to save anything that has any special meaning. i've saved most of the ltrs that my mom has ever written to me and lots of things from my childhood. i guess in hopes one day of passing it down. the only thing i collect now is fridge magnets from where ever we visit and post cards. oh yeah, i also gets cool pens, like my younger sis, when i see them.

The above is a clip of Louise Brooks, in one of those famous films I told you about, this one being called "Pandora's Box" set in 1927, considered one of the most erotic films ever made, and it is silent. Look for teh details: the cut in the bodice of her dresses, her interactions with men are agressive (notice her biting someone) and she is dominant and slinky, like a black cat. She plays the role of Lulu, a "girl of the night" who basically destroys every man she comes in contact with, either they go crazy or they kill themselves, and in the end she is murdered by Jack The Ripper. Beauty at it's best :) You MUST see the whole film, if this clip was enjoyable.

I am also VERY envious of all the shows you have been to on a grande scale...rub it in, why don't ya?xxoo

I had a huge collection of various trading cards, too...and I kept them in a box at my parents' house (because someone told me some of them were worth something). My mother promptly dumped the whole load as soon as I came to Japan...

Well, it seems we are just like you ;)

Over the years, I have collected stamps, and whenever I go to a site or house or museum, I rarely throw away the visitor's guide or leaflet.

Someone started my coin collection before I was born! And I am still trying to herd up the latest US quarters, which is nearlyimpossible now that my parents are in Canada.

Hat pins, I buy a few everywhere I go. Shoot, I forgot to get one in Verona, though...

I have a rock collection from when I started getting serious about science.

There is something I am forgetting...
Oh yea, buttons. They're gone now though. It started with my mum's from the 60s, which she kept in an Oil of Ulay pot. Here in London I found a whole dusty little shop full of buttons of all kinds. I didn't go in. I thnk I've grown out of that one then...

moody, you know, i had so many things when i was younger and my mom got rid of so much. it really ticks ya off when it happens... or it did me! i still get mad over it! ;) ;)

rolly, greetings! thanks for stopping by!

christopher, i LOVED your post on george michael. you made me laugh soooo hard and i really needed it cuz i was in a pissy mood yesterday and it turned my whole day around! you are funny!!! the adventures you've had... you could write books!

munther, the things i've kept... you wouldn't believe it. i have this old record that has ET on the front.. don't know if it's worth anything or not. and then i have some really, really old mags from my youth... just a lot of stuff. i kept all of it because i was a fanatic about things and could think of parting w/ it. i love looking thru these things. :)

olivia, you collect some really interesting things. i also collect stamps. i've thought about making a post, but didn't. there are a lot... but i don't do it anymore and they just sit there. i should send them to you! the rock collection sounds nice... i love smooth rocks. what type do you collect? you know, there are sooo many different quarters in the u.s. now. they were doing on for each state. did you know this? they are really nice too. i keep visitors guides and leaflets too... and movie tickets. i think i have a stub from every movie i've seen w/ my husband... i guess, in thinking about collecting, a huge part of it is that i'm very sentimental. i think you are too from the things you collect. the buttons sound interesting. you know, one of my fav shirts a long time ago had a different button on each thing. it was sooo nice. i outgrew it though. i wish i still had it. it was a peach linen w/ all of these varied victorian buttons going down the front. you could do a lot w/ those buttons!!
