I'm Proud

Today, for the first time in a VERY long time, I am proud to be an American.

I was thrilled to wake up, turn on the TV and see that Obama had won!!!!!!!

I am, indeed, very proud and happy.

Back... many months ago, there were many who didn't believe it could happen, but it has... and it'll never be the same again.

Today is a new day in history.... congratulations Barack Obama!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

But some ppl here are not happy with this change since he is pro-Armenian, which is not good for us, taking into account they occupied 20% of our territories.

Well it is a major mile stone, I must say, but the first thing I heard this morning was what sounded like instant back-pedalling on his election promises - tough times ahead, might not achieve everything in the first term, etc.

Interesting times ahead!

cheif rock chef, you and i noticed the exact same thing... i did catch that as well, but i'll say this, it will be hard for anyone to pass everything since it all has to go thru congress... but... i at least feel he has nothing but good intentions and believes in what can be done, and for the first time in a long time, ppl back him and support his cause. that says a lot... i do hope that things aren't pushed back and promises are thrown away... since that happens so often.

puppy, i didn't know he was pro-armenian. how did you know that? i've never heard him say such. i will say that he's pro peace.. so hopefully that will take a positive path towards these things... and sometimes... as hard as it may be, we have to forge ahead.... and let by gones be by gones. not to make light or anything... i just thin he wont be the type of person to promote war.

I stayed up way too late watching the results and listening to his acceptance speech. I was in tears.

I don't think he was backpeddling. I think he was acknowledging the long, tough road America has ahead to repair the damage that has been done.

I sincerely believe that Obama will be good for this nation. McCain is also a good man, who has given much to this country and I think if nothing else, he would have been better than Bush. But his choice of Palin was a big mistake. I think it cost him the election.

Today is the beginning of a new era in America and I am proud to have voted Obama.

just jane, i cried too. i loved his speech. i feel so proud.

did you see oprah in the crowd? seeing her cry made me cry ... seeing the Rev. Jesse Jackson crying, made me cry.... the way he was holding his finger to his lips. i may not agree w/ everything he says, but that touched me.

he's different... i believe in him. :)

anthrogeek, i think change is comin'.... :)

I'm right with you on everything you said. I plan to pray for him because it's going to take one heck of an effort to undo all the damage that's been done. But I have a renewed sense of hope that it can be done.
I can't get that image of Jesse Jackson out of my head. I get teary every time I picture it.
I have to admit that initially I was truly afraid that he might not win and as the results started to come in my faith was restored.

A presidential candidate was judged not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character.

If only MLK jr. were alive to see it. I guess there is hope for us, after all.

I don't think it was just Palin that sank McCain. I think it was the fact that he based almost his entire campaign (and every single debate) on personal attacks. The Rush Limbaugh School of Debate didn't work well in his favor, I'd say.

Obama seems very intelligent yet firmly grounded in everyday reality. If he really is that way, I'd say it's about time.

kissyfur, :)

in response to my earlier comment about jesse jackson.. i will say that i saw more clips of him and after seeing some other shots, i was a bit on the side of thinking it was fake... his crying and such. seeing that only about a month ago, he was making negative comments about obama...

never liked jesse jackson... makes me wonder if he was crying because it wasn't him instead! ;) ;)

Yes, we are very happy about Obama. (from our perspective in Australia) His victory speech was intelligent and graceful. He is an international man, handsome and has a great tan. Now that'snot an insult at all! Same colour as our kids.
